LeAnn Rimes' pearly whites seem as pearly as ever—but, according to the singer, her smile has been masking a lot of pain.

Literally.

Rimes sued her former dentist yesterday, claiming the veneers and crowns she was given between December 2009 and April 2012 hurt far more than they helped, leading to chronic dental troubles that required her to ultimately need nine root canals and compromised her ability to perform.

After hearing Rimes' take on what she's been through over the last few years with her teeth, we took a current pic of Mrs. Eddie Cibrian and set it alongside a photo taken when she was in her late teens, pre-veneers (which are usually put on for cosmetic purposes and/or to bolster weaker material underneath), to see if there's any obvious differences since the disputed dental work.

We'll just chew on that question for now.
