Sitting front row at the Naeem Khan show (just a few seats down from Vanessa Hudgens) at New York Fashion Week, we spotted designer Rachel Roy eyeing the runway with approval.

Always elegant, Roy has made a mark for herself in the fashion world thanks to her seriously stylish celeb clients (Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Garner and Michelle Obama) and sophisticated, standout pieces from each collection.

"I design for a working woman who has much to do. She needs something that easily and effortlessly transitions her from one place to another so she can focus on something much more important than fashion, which is her life," she told E! News.

As for her fall trend predictions, she shared some of her creative insight. "I really believe that black is a uniform, but I'm trying to propose army green as the new black for fall! It's just as safe, but it's fresh and new. Pair it with metallics—I showed a great bomber jacket with stunning embellishments this season."

Another trend she's confident about is leather. "Leather is an amazing fabric that can take on many shapes: leggings, skirts, jackets," she explained. "Proportion is very important, too. When wearing a bomber jacket, you want to show it with something longer. I want to teach women about proportion and how it can show off some good points and hide the flaws."

One thing's for sure, fall fashion is taking shape and the trends are as enticing as ever!
