Ex-cop Christopher Dorner is suspected in the killings of three people and is now the target of a sweeping manhunt in southern California.
Before going on the lam, he left behind a rambling manifesto posted to Facebook in which he not only laid blame for his current rough lot in life on a number of law-enforcement officers and other authority figures and threatened violence against them and members of their family, but also provided his opinions on everything from Hillary Clinton running in 2016 ("You'll make one hell of a president") to Charlie Sheen ("effin' awesome").
"It's kind of sad I won't be around to view and enjoy The Hangover III. What an awesome trilogy," Dorner, 33, wrote in just one of the many paragraphs devoted to his entertainment preferences. "Todd Phillips, don't make anymore Hangovers after the third, takes away the originality of its foundation. World War Z looks good and The Walking Dead season 3 (second half) looked intriguing. Damn, gonna miss shark week."
While many celebs were grouped together as influential (Jay-Z, Eric Clapton, BB King, Marvin Gaye et al. are "musical prodigies") or particularly lovely (Natalie Portman, Jennifer Beals, Serena Williams, Kelly Clarkson, Kate Winslet and many more are "THE MOST beautiful women on this planet, period"), Dorner reserved his particular favorites, like Sheen, for individual shout-outs.
Among those who rated were Ellen DeGeneres ("I congratulate you on your success and opening my eyes as a young adult"), Anthony Bourdain ("modern renaissance man"), Christoph Waltz (he's showing "glimpses of Daniel Day-Lewis and Morgan Freeman-esque type qualities of greatness"), Tim Tebow ("not a good QB...but a great football player") and Bill Cosby ("you are a reasonable and talented man who has spoken the truth of the cultural anomalies within the black communities that need to change now").
Dorner is also a "big fan" of comedians such as Larry David, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Jon Stewart. He appreciates the scholarship of author and legal expert Jeffrey Toobin. He doesn't think George W. Bush got the credit he deserved. And he hopes Gen. David Petraeus returns to government service.
Dorner also writes that he wants his brain to be preserved for scientific research into the effects of severe depression, saying he's been "afflicted with severe depression" since being relieved of duty on June 26, 2008, and then fired from the LAPD on Jan. 2, 2009.
In addition to writing, it appears that Dorner was also busy reaching out directly to one of the journalists whose work he applauded in the manifesto.
"Learned today suspect Christopher Dorner sent me a parcel at CNN," Anderson Cooper tweeted this afternoon. "Inside was a note, DVD, and a coin shot thru with bullet holes."
The search for Dorner is currently centered in Big Bear, Calif., where authorities say a burning pickup truck found on the side of a forest road has been linked to the fugitive.
