What do Larry King and the late King of Pop have in common? Katie Couric! (Well, kinda sorta.)

Let us explain.

While chatting it up with Jimmy Kimmel on his program Thursday night, Couric humorously recalled when she and the former CNN talk show host actually went out on a date. (No, seriously.)

It took place in Washington, D.C., when a then-30-year-old Couric agreed to have dinner with King, who is 23 years her senior.

"We go to this Italian restaurant where they put you right next to each other like they do all the men and their 'nieces,'" said Couric. "We had a nice enough time, and I see we're going over Memorial Bridge, and that is not the way to my apartment. I said, 'Larry, where are we going?' And he said, 'My place,' and I'm like, 'Oh, mother of god.'"

Back at King's pad, Couric recalled, "So we sat there, and what can I say? He lunged...and I started laughing a little bit because the whole situation was out of a bad Lifetime movie. I said, 'Larry, you are such an interesting, nice man, but I would like to meet someone a little closer to my age.'"

Which brings us to Michael Jackson.

Couric told Kimmel that the music icon wasn't interested in being interviewed by her, but was interested in the two of them going out sometime. However, Couric opted to pass on that one.

"Can you imagine going to my daughters, who were 8 and 4, saying, 'Honey, I'm going out on a date with Michael Jackson," Couric said. "But I'm sorry I didn't just have dinner with him, because that would have been a fascinating conversation."

Especially if he had lunged.
