Drew Barrymore didn't debut baby Olive on a magazine cover. In fact, she wants her and Will Kopelman's 4-month-old daughter to stay out of the public eye as much as possible.
But, given the little girl's high-profile parents, this ideal probably isn't going to be a reality. In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar's March issue, the 37-year-old actress explains why she "needed some time" to "cope" with this realization.
"For a solid six weeks, I was hiding like the Unabomber," she recalls. "Because I live my life in the public eye, I didn't want that for her." Ultimately, though, she realized that "unless I move into a bunker underground, I don't have a choice in this matter."
"I know she didn't sign up for that," she adds. "I had such an exposed childhood…I appreciate my journey, but I don't want that for my kid. Not any of it. It has nothing to do with whether I liked my childhood. I really did. But as a parent, that isn't the childhood that I'd provide."
Somehow we think Drew will give Olive a very magical childhood.
