If there's been one positive piece of Lindsay Lohan news lately, it's been the amazing makeover her rental home recently received on Bravo's Million Dollar Decorators. Interior design guru Kathryn Ireland was able to liven up LiLo's space and gave the home such a beautiful makeover, the owner is actually raising the rent for the next tenant!

Our absolute favorite part of the transformation was the miracle Kathryn worked in the master bedroom (seriously, Chanel bags were the featured "before décor"). So, when we got a chance to chat with Kathryn, we asked her to give us three tips that any of us could use to make over our own master bedrooms. Here's what she had to say:

1. Get a Good Bed:  With all of us leading such crazy, busy lives, practically the only time we allow for our bodies to rejuvenate is while we sleep, so it's worth investing in a good bed and mattress that feels both luxurious and comfortable! Kathryn says she is a big fan of the Posturepedic mattresses.

2. Choose the Right Fabrics: Kathryn says to use a lot of soft fabrics in the bedroom. "If you live in the city," she says, "use sheers over the windows for privacy." This way, you won't have neighbors peeking in on you, but you also won't feel closed in by curtains. "What you dress your bed with is also extremely important," she tells us. She recommends using linen that you don't have to iron or fuss too much with. One of her favorites is sheets and a duvet cover sold by Restoration Hardware, such as this one, which has a crinkled, relaxed look to it. This way, you never have to worry about ironing!

3. Utilize Other Furniture: A lot of us get our bed in there, and we think mission accomplished! After all, it is a bedroom. But a lot more that goes into making this space feel like the sanctuary that it should be. Kathryn recommends at least getting yourself a chair so you have somewhere comfy to kick back and read a book, a magazine (or watch Million Dollar Decorators!). Depending on the space, Kathryn says a bench or an ottoman at the end of the bed can also be a nice addition.

As a little extra tip, Kathryn says that lighting is important. She suggests having the lamps on dimmers because sometimes it's nice to have the room nice and bright, and other times, well, there's nothing like a little mood lighting when you've got the Marvin Gaye going!

Which of Kathryn's three tips are you going to try?
