Mindy McCready Boyfriend's Death: Suicide by Gunshot

Country singer revealed earlier today she was in mourning for David Wilson, the father of her second child, who died last night

Mindy McCready's boyfriend David Wilson appears to have committed suicide at his Arkansas home on Sunday night.

McCready's rep, Kat Atwood, told E! News that the 34-year-old record producer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Cleburne County Sherriff's Office, emergency personnel arrived at the scene at around 6:15 p.m. and transported Wilson to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. No charges have been filed but an investigation is ongoing.

"David and Mindy just recently celebrated getting back full custody of Zander [McCready's 6-year-old son with singer Billy McKnight] right before Christmas," said Atwood. "The case went to the Supreme Court and Mindy won. Although David was not Zander's birth father, David was his father in every measure of the word. They had a lot to celebrate."

Wilson was the birth father of the second of McCready's two sons, 9-month-old Zayne.

"Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children's father, David Wilson," McCready said in a statement on Monday. "David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father.

"David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man."

Atwood told E! News that they are waiting for family members who are traveling from afar to Arkansas before making any funeral arrangements.

"Right now, the family is gathering together and doing the very best that they can in this tragic time," she said.
