There she is—Miss New York, Mallory Hytes Hagan, or as she's better known now: Miss America 2013!
The tap dancing 23-year-old from Brooklyn was crowned Saturday evening in Las Vegas, defeating second runner-up Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton.
And the crowning wasn't the only highlight of tonight's telecast.
The Chris Harrison and Brooke Burke-Charvet hosted show featured everything from Miss Alabama introducing herself as: "From the state that brought you Channing Tatum, People's Sexiest Man Alive, You're Welcome. I'm Anna Laura Bryan, Miss Alabama" to a historymaker with Miss Montana Alexis Wineman, the first autistic contestant in Miss America pagaent history, who took home the win of America's Choice.
It was a show full of big moments. Including a rather-awkward-slightly-out-of-sync dance number to one of America's favorite boy band hits (One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful") complete with some not-so-trendy getups, not to mention Gold Medal winning judge McKayla Maroney offering her "not impressed" face in an amazing moment with host Harrison, and yes, even Brooke giving Sketcher's and her new fitness DVD a nice-yet-not-so-discreet plugs.
And we can't not mention Miss Tennessee Chandler Lawson's bold move in taking on Adele's "Turning Tables" or Miss Washington Mandy Schendel's attempt at Rascal Flatt's "My Wish" for their talent, or when they handed out donuts to those who didn't make the cut...yes, that happened.
So what's next for the new Miss America?
Hagan pockets a $50,000 college scholarship and gets the sparkler-packed crown for one year, during which she is expected to go on a nationwide speaking tour and raise money for the Children's Miracle Network, the organization's official charity.
