CNNWe've had this Piers Morgan video clip on repeat all morning, and yet we are no closer to figuring out what the heck conservative conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is trying to say.
The Texas radio host stopped by Piers Morgan Tonight Monday to defend his highly conservative and controversial take on guns in America, but instead of engaging in a sensible debate, Jones found himself on an endless rant where he insisted that "more guns means less crime" and firearms protect against "tyrannical government and street thugs."
No, seriously.
Morgan has vehemently advocated for stricter gun control (he's in favor of a "nationwide ban on military style semi-automatic assault weapons and high-capacity magazines") in the wake last month's tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which left 26 people—including many young children—dead.
Jones responded to Piers' "attack" on our Second Amendment rights with an online petition calling for Morgan's deportation. Currently, the petition has over 106,000 signatures.
Among the other highlights in the mindboggling debate outburst?
Jones claims the "foreigners" and "megabanks that control the planet" are trying to take away American guns, and he insists the common antidepressant Prozac is a "suicide mass murder" pill. He also informs Piers that England has "hordes of people burning down cities and beating old women's brains out every day" owing to the country's firearm regulations (oh, you didn't know?).
And he doesn't stop there. Jones rages on until he reaches the pinnacle of his argument, name-checking past tyrannical leaders to, um, prove his point:
"Hitler took the guns! Stalin took the guns! Mao took the guns! Fidel Castro took the guns! Hugo Chavez took the guns! And I'm here to tell you that 1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!!"
Seriously, you have to see it to believe it.
