Kate Middleton's selflessness will no doubt help her to be a great mom.

Prince William's pregnant wife donated a baby hamper to EACH, a charity helping the family members of young people with serious illnesses, and the baby item is now being auctioned off for the charity.

A rep for the royals tells E! News a company "wanted to send The Duchess of Cambridge a hamper" but "St. James's Palace has a policy of not accepting unsolicited gifts, therefore it was suggested the company donate the hamper to EACH, of which the Duchess is Patron, instead."

The rep added, "The fact that the hamper was delivered on the day that The Duchess was in [the] hospital was a coincidence in timing."

Kate said in a statement, per EACH's website, that the organization "is invaluable to hundreds of families. In the past year there has been an unprecedented amount of care and support delivered to children and young people with life-threatening illnesses, and their families.

"I have been fortunate enough to meet some of those who have been supported by EACH, and seen firsthand the positive impact this organization has on their lives," she added. "For both families accessing care, and those who have been bereaved, EACH is a lifeline at an unimaginably difficult time."
