When you read this news, you will definitely say out loud to us: "I hate so much about the things you choose to be." Don't shoot the messenger, OK?

Even though several Office castmembers have mentioned to us that schedules were being worked out to bring Steve Carell back before the show goes off the air for good, NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt may have crushed those dreams forever.

"I'm hopeful, but I don't think he will be back," Greenblatt said during NBC's Sunday presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour. "He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave."

The NBC boss claims that the reason behind it is Carell doesn't want to tarnish the character's final exit in season seven.

But before you give up all hope of Michael Scott ever coming back to Scranton, Greenblatt offered this up: "There's maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo."

If we don't get updates on Michael's life before the series finale, we are just going to assume he is happily married to Holly (Amy Ryan) and they have lots of babies. Sound good?
