Say goodbye to 2012 in style. Whether you're hosting a soiree for your closest friends, watching the ball drop in Times Square or enjoying a romantic night in with your man, a festive ensemble to celebrate the New Year is a must.

Not sure what to wear on Dec. 31? Not to worry, we caught up with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' glamour maven Adrienne Maloof to catch her three rules on dressing for a New Year's Eve bash.

Here's what Ms. Maloof told us:

1. Rock the LBD. "Without fail, my number one recommendation for New Year's Eve dressing is a fabulous little black dress," she says. "You can never go wrong! It always looks chic." Bonus: You probably already have a flattering option in your closet already.

2. Add metallic accessories. "If you want your little black dress to pop, add some fun metallic accessories because nothing says festive like a little sparkle," she says. "I love adding silver and gold shoes, a clutch and great jewelry." Check out Adrienne's fierce shoe line for a wide array of footwear options—everything from sky-high heels to adorable flats.

3. Comfort is key. "Sometimes after a few weeks of eating and celebrating, you don't feel up to squeezing into something form-fitting," she says. "A perfect alternative is a pair of loose, flowing black palazzo pants in a silk or rayon like material." Just remember: If you're wearing something neutral on the bottom, try a colorful sweater or blouse on top to really stand out.
