"Look Heart, No Hands" singer Randy Travis is claiming he didn't use his, well, hands.

The country superstar pleaded not guilty on Friday in connection with a citation he was issued for simple assault outside a church in Plano, Texas, back in August.

Travis himself appeared in court and a trial date was set for March 11, the Dallas Morning News reports.

On Aug. 23, Travis waded into the middle of an argument between an estranged husband and wife that turned physical, according to the Plano Police Department. When authorities arrived and questioned witnesses, they indicated they had seen a husband and wife involved in a verbal argument. Travis allegedly intervened, which is when he allegedly physically assaulted the husband, whose wife is a female friend of the Grammy winner.

In contrast to his previous run-ins with the law—like his arrest for driving while intoxicated on Aug. 7—there are no allegations that Travis was anything but clean and sober at the time.

In fact, the singer's lawyer, Larry Friedman, recently told E! News: "Randy is doing great. Life is good. He's given up drinking alcohol. He's drinking eight glasses of water a day or more. He's on a strict exercise regimen...He's in the best shape he's ever been in his life."
