Rumors have been swirling that the former Desperate Housewives actress is dating Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa since splitting with her footballer beau Mark Sanchez in late October.
But the petite brunette beauty has set the record straight with pal and Extra host Mario Lopez, insisting that it's just gossip and the two are not together.
She also took to Twitter to reveal the twosome have never been an item:
"Wow, Star mag gets it wrong yet again," the 37-year-old star wrote. " I am NOT dating nor have I ever been on a date with our LA Mayor Villaraigosa."
So why the tabloid fodder?
Longoria explains that her political involvement has set the rumor mill abuzz. Not only was the actress heavily involved in President Barack Obama's reelection campaign, but she even spoke at the Democratic National Convention, which she called "the most important speech" she has ever made.
