It's no secret the fashion industry is obsessed with youth, but the business' pretty young things might be a little more entrepreneurial than you would expect.

Need proof? Forbes has released its Top 30 Under 30 brightest fashion and art stars of 2012 list—and the talent that tops it spends more time building empires than smizing for the camera.

Take twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who have amassed a fashion powerhouse, including lines The Row, Olsenboye for JCPenney, Elizabeth and James and StyleMint. To get an idea of just how well-established a name the designing duo have made for themselves in the world of fashion, just consider the fact that the stylish siblings got away with slapping a $55,000 price tag on a pill-covered handbag

Forbes also name designer Alexander Wang, who recently became the creative director of legendary fashion house Balenciaga. The 29-year-old will continue to helm his eponymous line, which counts Gwyneth Paltrow as a fan.

Not bad for not even having hit the big 3-0, huh?
