He did it--and he's proud he did it.

That's the word today from basketball oddity Dennis Rodman, confirming a weekend wedding to ex-Baywatch thespian Carmen Electra.

"I love Carmen and am proud to be married to her," Rodman said in a statement.

The one they call The Worm apologized for "any false statements given on my behalf"--a reference to the agent who told reporters that Rodman was drunk during the ceremony and taken advantage of by "leeches."

Rodman, 37, and Electra, 26, applied for a marriage license Saturday in Las Vegas, aka Land of the Quickie Wedding, records show.

The couple--an item since June--reportedly did the deed at the Strip's Little Chapel of the Flowers.

Yesterday, Rodman's agent, Dwight Manley, mouthed off to the Big Apple tabs--claiming the union couldn't be considered legal because "it sounds like [Rodman] was deeply intoxicated."

"Obviously, anyone that would marry somebody that was intoxicated to the point that they couldn't speak or stand had ulterior motives of some sort," Manley told the New York Post.

Electra's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, immediately branded Manley's statements "inaccurate and untrue."

Electra (real name: Tara Patrick) is a former Playboy pinup who ended her Baywatch tenure following last season. She's now set to join the cast of the WB's Hyperion Bay.

Rodman is a locked-out NBA star who dabbles in pro wrestling, hair coloring and movies, including the Jean-Claude Van Damme epic Double Team.

This is the second marriage for the previouly divorced Rodman--unless you count that stunt he pulled in 1996. Then, he egged on the media by promising he was set to marry a "beautiful, intelligent woman." The next day, he turned up at a book signing in full-bridal dress.
