Sprucing up your home this holiday season but not sure where to start? Kathy Hilton has some expert advice for you. The stylish socialite has thrown countless parties over the years and even once owned a charming retail store in Los Angeles that specialized in holiday gift items.

Hilton opened up her home to us for a recent soiree celebrating her eveningwear collection, and we were so stunned by the immaculate presentation (a lavish all-white Christmas tree, glittering lights, live carolers, life-size nutcrackers and a even a visit from Santa himself!) that we had to ask her for some festive tips.

Here's what she shared:

1. Have Discerning Taste: "I always want any space to look beautiful, but also warm and inviting. I owned my store for eight years, but I've been a holiday nut for forever!" she said. "I used to have 25 trees on display on Sunset Plaza and they were all perfectly decorated to my style. I sold more Christopher Radko than anyone else in town, because I knew his pieces were the best."

2. Create a Christmas Tree With Meaning: "A Christmas tree can be like a kitchen sink—it can hold everything! I decorate ours with my baby shoes, gifts from my daughters over the years, dolls from when I was little, special ornaments that have a place in my heart."

3. Handmade Mementos Are Priceless: "When Paris and Nicky were in school, parents were warned not to go out and buy expensive gifts for the teachers, so I started crafting with my kids. I still make little treasure boxes that are personalized with vintage ornaments and charms as gifts today."

How thoughtful! We love Hilton's holiday sentiments and hope these tips inspire you this season.
