Watch: Anne Hathaway on Turning 30

It's been a heck of a year for Anne Hathaway, having earned major praise as Catwoman in this summer's blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. And now with the Christmas Day release of Les Misérables and Oscar buzz surrounding her role as Fantine, it's only getting better.

The actress talked to E! News about how she and her cast mates got acquainted before filming began on director Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of the hit stage musical. She also expounded on life after turning the big 3-0.

When it came to meeting her costars for the first time, Hathaway said it was just a matter of getting together and loosening up, a task she credited to Russell Crowe, who plays Inspector Javert.

"Russell, as soon as he got there, organized this Friday night dinner for us all to bond and then he had a keyboard in his place and he had somebody play piano. We were all very nervous and self-conscious, but he got us all singing," she tells E! News.

She continued: "And then all of a sudden when we went to work on Monday, we were all way more relaxed with each other and we didn't feel we had to apologize for warming up, or like, we had to explain ourselves singing. It just kind of cut straight through all the b.s. and got us working together as a cast."

The thesp also hailed Amanda Seyfried, who plays Cosette, the "karaoke queen."

"You have not lived until you see something as adorable as Amanda wearing a green Kermit suit rapping to Eminem's 'Lose Yourself,'" Anne added.

Hathaway also reflected on all the good luck she's had over the past 12 months that has seen her career soar to new heights.

"This is an extraordinary moment for me. I had Dark Knight Rises this year. And all that means I got to work with Christopher Nolan, I have this movie coming out, I married the love of my life, I turned 30," she noted. "I'm dazzled by all the wonderful things that are happening."

She dreamed a dream, all right.
