The Hobbit is journeying over to The Colbert Report.

Plenty of folks are certainly excited about the release of the first installment in director Peter Jackson's planned trilogy of J.R.R. Tolkien's book, but perhaps no one more than Stephen Colbert, who is devoting a whole week of his show to the film.

That's right. During the week of Dec. 3, the Comedy Central funnyman will welcome stars Sir Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis as well as Jackson himself to his program.

Speaking Elvish (of course!), Colbert said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly: "Elen sila lumenn' omentielvo ("A star shines upon the hour of our meeting")...I mean that sincerely."

Colbert has expressed his fondness for all things Middle-earth on his show in the past, which reportedly led Jackson to give him a small role in a future Hobbit movie.

Meanwhile, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens Dec. 14.
