Ian Gavan/Getty ImagesBritish Fashion had its day this week, with all manner and class of fashionista parading around in some seriously unfortunate Stella McCartneys for the 2012 British Fashion Awards. But a few guests did manage to put together outfits that had neither depressing pantsuits (Stella's hallmark these days) nor fringe. (Stay with us for that one.)
So, let's name our favorites of the night first.
Alexa Chung—she of the nebulous, sorta modeling, sorta socializing career—looked more evening-appropriate in Simone Rocha. Follow by...Princess Beatrice, eh? Who knew that she was more than fallopian-tube hats and unlucky run-ins with Spanx? Yes, the dress is a wee tad too daytime for an evening fashion event, but the look is pretty and simple, which we always appreciate. But it was Dita Von Teese who stole the show for us—very Morticia Addams, if Morticia had a stylist and a gravity-defying rack.
Now for the worst.
We have Lily Collins who, as a former model, should know better than to wear Bajoran earrings to a British event. It's offensive to all non-alien species. Then there's Salma Hayek in McCartney. Insert your favorite bad fringe joke here.
The good news is that Rita Ora seems to be cleaning up. She's no longer competing with Justin Bieber for who makes the better Justin Bieber. She's also stopped skinning Muppets while they're still alive. That's real nice. The bad news is that she wore...this. We hate to condemn it, because it's Vivienne Westwood, but on Ora it's too much fabric and too much origami going on in the boob region.
