And then there were five.

Tuesday night's Dancing With the Stars double elimination certainly had us shocked, but what about the two pairs that were sent packing?

Here's how Kirstie AlleyMaks Chmerkovskiy, Gilles Marini, and Peta Murgatroyd were doing backstage:

While some of the press and viewers were shocked to see Gilles and Peta eliminated, the Switched at Birth star wasn't surprised by his exit. "We weren't. We kind of knew about two weeks ago after the marathon dance, like, 'Oh, this is the signal.' We tried our hardest to come back, but it was not enough time," he says.

Still, Gilles is able to keep his elimination from the show in perspective. "Look, I just talked to a little girl that had like a tumor in brain and people are going through Sandy Hurricane, some people right now are in Afghanistan, I just got kicked out of a reality show, it's all good!"

Kirstie also had a good attitude about her exit, saying, "Of course I'm disappointed, but honestly, I'm not blind. I see that everybody is working really hard. The remaining dancers are just amazing. We did try hard. We worked hard, but everybody worked hard!"

And even though they were eliminated, fan-favorite couple Kirstie and Maks were able to keep their signature sense of humor. When Peta jumped in on their interview to say she would see them at Jimmy Kimmel Live! later, Maks jokes, "We can't even get eliminated by ourselves, this is bulls--t!" And it seems like their competitive streak isn't done just yet as Kirstie says, "We shall vie for positioning on Kimmel!

While the judges praised Kirstie and Maks' waltz on Monday night's performance show, they were less than thrilled by the couple's paso doble with Tristan MacManus. Too bad Kirstie really doesn't care what they had to say! "I don't give a f--k what the judges thought, I had the best time of my life in that dance," she tells us. "So to be able to end off like that, having that much fun, that's sort of what this show is about."

Finally, Kirstie says, "I think we'll be missed a little." Yes, you definitely will be missed, Kirstie and Maks!
