Ariel Winter Family Drama: Modern Family Star Breaks Up With Older Boyfriend

Source confirms to E! News that the actress is no longer dating Cameron Palatas and reassures that Winter never ran away from home with him

Ariel Winter's mother is probably happy to hear this news. 

E! News confirms that the 14-year-old Modern Family star, who has been in the middle of a guardianship tug-of-war between mother Chrisoula Workman and sister Shanelle Gray after being removed from her mom's care over claims of abuse, has split from her 18-year-old boyfriend Cameron Palatas. 

A source confirms that the couple—a relationship Workman did not support—are no longer together and reassured that Winter did not run away from home with the actor. 

In addition, our source tells us that Chrisoula normally never cared who Ariel dated, but Palatas was an issue—and we may know why.

Workman filed a police report against her daughter's boyfriend, telling authorities that on Sept. 24, "she walked in the guest bedroom of her home and found her daughter, Ariel Winter Workman, in bed with boyfriend, Cameron Lewis Palatas."

The report also states, "Ariel and Cameron have been boyfriend/girlfriend for approximately 5 months. She has attempted to break them up because of their age difference."

Workman claimed in a response to Gray's petition for permanent guardianship of Winter on Oct. 3, "Ariel is rebelling and using this Guardianship to get out from underneath my guidance and supervision to her sister's care, which would in essence allow her to continue her relationship with Cameron."

However, when asked about her relationship with Cameron at the Ronald McDonald Camp Halloween Party at the end of October, Winter said, "Um, I don't have one…Not at the moment. We're just friends."

A hearing on Gray's petition is scheduled for Nov. 20, until which Workman has been barred from having any contact with Ariel.
