First Look: Tom Hanks Playing Walt Disney Gives Mustache a Purpose

Oscar winner steps into the suit and 'stache of the movie and theme park legend for Saving Mr. Banks

In case you were wondering why Tom Hanks was going everywhere in a mustache...

All is revealed in these new photos from Saving Mr. Banks, about the making of making of Mary Poppins, in which the two-time Oscar winner suits up as entertainment icon Walt Disney.

The pioneering Hollywood visionary sported a famous 'stache and Hanks is nothing if not an actor who's willing to not shave his upper lip for a few months.

Emma Thompson plays Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers. Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, B.J. Novak, Bradley Whitford and Rachel Griffiths also star.

Filming kicked off in September in Los Angeles and the whole production-within-a-production is due in theaters Dec. 20, 2013.
