Forever your girl. Not.

Paula Abdul today filed for divorce from hubby Brad Beckerman after 17 months of marriage, her spokesperson says. The couple cited "irreconcilable differences."

It's a surprising turn, considering the couple seemed destined for happily-ever-afterness when they tied the knot back in October 1996. They met on a blind date eight months earlier--she a fading pop diva, he the CEO for a suburban L.A.-based clothing manufacturer--and fell hard for each other.

"He knocked me off my feet," the Grammy-winning songstress gushed to People magazine. "The first time I met her, I saw my future in her eyes," Beckerman swooned. He sealed the deal with a specially designed six-carat ring and a bended-knee proposal on a Hawaiian beach.

They swapped "I do's" in front of a star-studded gallery--Rod Stewart, Magic Johnson, Brandy, Boyz II Men. It was the second stroll down the aisle for Abdul (she split from Emilio Estevez in 1994 after two years of matrimony), the first for Beckerman.

Abdul filed the petition in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday, under the name "P. Julie Beckerman."
