Teri Shields, who, for years, managed the career of daughter Brooke Shields, passed away in Manhattan last week. She was 79.

Her death followed a long illness related to dementia, Brooke's rep tells E! News.

A single mom, Teri started Brooke on the path to fame when she got her an Ivory soap ad at 11 months.

But Teri definitely raised eyebrows when she arranged for a photographer to take nude pictures of Brooke when she was only 10 and allowed her to play a prostitute at age 11 in the 1978 film, Pretty Baby.

As a teen, Brooke starred in a series of provocative Calvin Klein jeans commercials in which she famously said, "Nothing comes between me and my Calvins."

Mother and daughter also appeared in three movies together—Wanda Nevada, Endless Love and Backstreet Dreams.

However, Teri and Brooke, now 47, eventually parted ways professionally in 1995.
