New Zealand Prime Minister John Key Denies Calling David Beckham "Thick as Bats--t"

Kiwi leader claims his words were misconstrued, says he’s “not going to engage”

In the eyes of many, David Beckham is one of the hottest dudes around.

But New Zealand's prime minister, John Key, might have a slightly different opinion of the hunky soccer heartthrob.

Key has denied allegations that he called Becks "thick as bats--t" on a recent trip to Australia. The PM allegedly made the offending remark while discussing a 2008 exhibition match between Beck's team, the LA Galaxy, and the Oceania All-Stars.

The New Zealand leader discussed the matter on morning television Monday, and although he was asked point blank whether he indeed made the offending remarks, he refused to give a straight answer:

"That is someone that thinks they have overheard a conversation I have had," Key told the New Zealand morning show. "I am not going to engage in that because otherwise I am engaging in every conversation that someone thinks I have."

The reporter pressed on, asking if Key could deny that he called the underwear model thick, but the prime minister provided another nebulous response:

"No, what I am saying is that somebody has overheard a personal conversation and that's their recollection of it," he explained. "I am just not going to engage in discussions about that. That's their view."

Whatever you say!

For what it's worth, Key reportedly described the soccer star as handsome and "a really nice guy" before firing off the rude remark.
