Katie Holmes, Jason Segel and Michelle Williams Among NYC Celebs Still Reeling After Hurricane Sandy

Without water and power, some of the Big Apple's most famous faces are having to abandon their homes like many of their fellow New Yorkers

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise are among a slew of New York City celebrities still coping with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

The flooding caused by Monday night's superstorm surge, which knocked out power to thousands living in Lower Manhattan, has forced Tom Cruise's ex to evacuate her posh Chelsea pad where she lives with their daughter.

"Suri and Katie stood it out as long as they could," a resident of her luxury apartment building tells The Huffington Post. "The power abruptly went out around 8:30 p.m. Monday evening, leaving everyone sitting around torchlight or candle light. Most folks stayed in the building over night and most of the next day until the water went out, making it impossible to even flush the toilet. At that point everyone, including Katie and Suri, left."

Holmes is said to have since holed up with Suri at the Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side, which per the New York Post is where Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Russell Crowe and Kelly Ripa among others have taken refuge while they wait for the situation to improve.

As of press time, Katie's neighborhood still remains without power and water. Suri attends a private school just blocks from the residence, and with the blackout still ongoing, the area's schools remain closed.

Meanwhile, Jason Segel and Michelle Williams are figuring out what to do after rising floodwaters surrounded their apartment in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and destroyed a Fairway supermarket on the ground floor.

The couple along with Michelle's daughter, Matilda, moved into the renovated 19th-century coffee warehouse a few months ago after purchasing the property, but now according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, they've since returned to Williams' Brooklyn brownstone on higher ground.

Despite the unprecedented mess, Sarah Jessica Parker seemed to be taking things in stride after she was photographed outside her West Village home yesterday and even managed a smile. Hubby Matthew Broderick, currently starring on Broadway in the musical Nice Work If You Can Get It, was nowhere to be seen.

Actor-director Ed Burns was also spotted out and about in his Tribeca neighborhood with his Xootr scooter shouldering a yellow backpack full of supplies for him, his model-wife Christy Turlington and their two kids.

"Still without power in lower Manhattan. Walking streets early this morning felt like a ghost town," he wrote on Twitter.

And while his own apartment ended up getting flooded out, a disaster he chronicled in a video he posted online a few days ago, former New Kids on the Block singer Donnie Wahlberg did his best to put his plight in perspective.

"When I stop and think of what others are dealing with now, and many others have survived before, I am overcome with humility and admiration," he tweeted.

Here's hoping the power comes back—and soon.
