Happy Halloween! A big storm has moved off the East Coast in present day and is now sweeping through American Horror Story: Asylum. And with the wind comes some crazy and seriously twisted happenings within the walls of Briarcliff.

For the first time, we got a good look at what exactly is in the woods outside of the asylum, plus Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) finally goes off her rocker. And then there's that final scene to talk about. So, let's stop wasting time and start tackling what went down during "Nor'easter"

The Great Escape: When the storm hit and Sister Jude suggested a movie night, Kit (Evan Peters) and Grace (Lizzie Brocheré) decided this was the perfect distraction for everyone and would be the time to try to escape. Lana (Sarah Paulson), who tattled on them last time, decided to join them. Why the change of heart? Lana begged Dr. Thredson (Zachary Quinto) to send a message to her girlfriend, but when he went to check on Wendy (Clea DuVall), all he found was drops of blood. He relayed this to Lana, who now believes that the killer is still out there and may not be Kit. Shelly (Chloë Sevigny) also joins in on the escape, but has to sacrifice herself to distract a guard. She ends up being caught by Dr. Arden (James Cromwell). More on that in a bit.

Lana, Kit and Grace make it outside of Briarcliff and start running through the rain and directly into…zombie-like creatures. They look human, but there is blood and mismatched body parts, and they are feasting on the flesh of a recently disposed body. The trio haul ass in the other direction, running into more creatures while being chased down by one particularly fast creature. They decide to just run back into the asylum, soaking wet and terrified.

Shelly's Punishment: Dr. Arden, who is losing his mind and doing a good job convincing us that he's the serial killer, tries to rape Shelly in his office after catching her escaping, but the moment is ruined when she starts laughing at his penis. Before she can insult his manhood anymore, he whacks her over the head. She wakes up with what Dr. Arden calls "clipped wings." Meaning, he removed her legs from the knee down. Then the screen cut—er, fades to black as Shelly screams.

Sister Mary's Possessed Soul: Sister Mary Eunice (Lily Rabe) went from the most innocent person at Briarcliff to the devil, literally—there is a demon inside of her. Rabe was so fantastic in this episode as she waltzed around the asylum like she owned the place, stirring up trouble for Sister Jude and Dr. Arden. But the harmlessness of it all ended when one of the patients recognized that she was possessed and Mary stabbed her to death and disposed of the body in the woods. And obviously the demon has a plan for Sister Jude's undoing. Which leads us to….

Sister Jude's Past Is Back: We learned in the last episode that Sister Jude killed a little girl in a drunken hit-and-run, and now all kinds of evidence is popping up to remind her: The newspaper article from the time of the little girl's death, red lipstick, the broken eyeglasses and even a phone call from the dead girl. These were all clearly the work of the demon haunting Sister Mary, but Sister Jude tried to put blame on both Dr. Arden and Dr. Thredson. Tormented by her past, Jude got drunk off the communal wine and while looking for a missing patient (Sister Mary's victim,) she stumbled upon a towering creature roaming the halls that looked very, very much like an alien. It would appear that Kit is telling the truth about the alien invasion.

More Bloody Face Mysteries: In present day, Leo (Adam Levine) and Theresa (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) were still fighting for their lives as Bloody Face attacks them. Just when you thought Theresa was going to get it, Leo sprang into action and they both managed to knock him down and stab him repeatedly. Hooray! Now get the hell out of there. Which is exactly what they attempt to do, until they run into Bloody Face in the hallway. So they turn back, only to run into another Bloody Face! Before they have time to make "WTF?" faces, the newlyweds are shot dead. Both Bloody Faces turn out to be young men wearing masks on a killing spree inside the abandon Briarcliff, ya know, for fun. Just when one of them noticed that Leo's arm is ripped out (not their doing), yet another Bloody Face charged toward them. He is presumably the real deal, but we'll probably have to wait until next episode to find out.

Burning Questions

  • What is with the spider-esque chip removed from Kit's neck?
  • Was that really an alien Sister Jude saw, or her drunken mind playing tricks?
  • What is the demon inside Sister Mary up to next?
  • Were those creatures out in the woods products of Dr. Arden, or something supernatural?
