Wolfgang Van Halen and One Direction are not only pretty far apart musically, but they also don't apparently like each other much either.

The Van Halen bassist and members of the British-Irish boy band ran into each other Tuesday at a hotel in Birmingham, England, and apparently a war of words ensued—at least according to Van Halen, who didn't have anything nice to say about 1D on Twitter.

"Fun fact: Was just insulted by that sh--ty boy band #OneDirection in the lobby of our hotel this morning! Greetings Birmingham!" he tweeted.

Eddie Van Halen's 21-year-old son didn't exactly say what he was miffed about, but he did elaborate further that the slight involved Creed guitarist Eric Friedman and drummer Garrett Whitlock: "No joke. That ACTUALLY HAPPENED. That group of kids in #OneDirection were d--kheads to @IIEROCKII @GWDrums and I."

According to One Direction crooner Louis Tomlinson's tweet from yesterday, he and his fellow popsters participated in a radio promo where the reported smack talk occurred, but there was nothing in his post about the supposed confrontation.

"Just left @wearefreeradio in Birmingham where we pre-recorded some interviews!! The first one airs tonight after 8pm! Fun, fun, fun!!!!!" he wrote.

But whatever the exchange, Wolfie wasn't exactly singing 1D's praises.

"They must call themselves that because all of their hair points in #OneDirection," he tweeted a little later.

The musician's slams didn't go over well with some One Directioners, three of whom fired back with a little sarcasm of their own on their fan-created Twitter page.

"A band named 'Wolfgang Van Halen' claimed that they got 'insulted' by 1D," read a tweet today from 1DAlerts Updates.

Good thing Van Halen and One Direction don't tour together.
