UPDATE at 1:30 p.m. PT: Beyoncé confirmed the news this afternoon, tweeting out a shot of herself with the date of the Super Bowl scrawled on some unmistakably gridiron-inspired eyeblacks on her face. The NFL and Pepsi later issued a press release making it official. See you on the field, B.

Beyoncé fans will no doubt be crazy in love with this news.

Jay-Z's better half has been tapped to perform at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, according to an Associated Press report.

The NFL would not confirm the Grammy winner's participation when contacted by E! News, but an official announcement is expected soon. She will join the A-list likes of Madonna, the Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2 and—who can forget?—Janet Jackson as halftime entertainment.

While Beyoncé has never sung during a Super Bowl halftime show before, the 31-year-old did belt out the national anthem at 2004's Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston.

As for who may join her on stage come the big game? Speculation is running high that it could be husband Jay-Z and/or fellow Destiny's Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
