But on Tuesday's episode of the ABC talk show, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama took on Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and, yes, even outspoken Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
In one segment of the show, Barbara asked Michelle to describe her husband's personality, noting that "we hear aloof, cold, unemotional."
"He's very loving. He's very giving. He's very open," the first lady gushed. "He's funny. I'm funnier. But we understand that!"
The couple even recounted their first date back in 1989, eating ice cream outside a Baskin Robbins in Chicago. Barack asked Michelle if he could kiss her for the first time, and adorably she said yes. (There's now a plaque there to commemorate the occasion.)
In another lighthearted moment, the president described daughters Sasha, 11, and Malia, 14, "spinning around" backstage and reenacting the Hannah Montana movie at the Democratic National Convention. He quipped that he walked out on stage "thinking about Hannah Montana."
But the ladies of The View also asked the tougher questions. Like how would the country fare if Republican opponent Mitt Romney were elected? Barack diplomatically replied that America is strong enough to survive any leadership, but "the American people don't want to just survive, we want to thrive."
As for whether the FLOTUS will ever be following in her hubby's footsteps? No way. She answered that question laughingly, saying, "It takes a lot of patience to be the president of the United States, and I'm not that patient!"
