Not everyone in the world is on Kate Middleton bumpwatch duty. Some people are on Kate Middleton defense duty—chief among them, it seems, Demi Lovato.

In the wake of yesterday's rampant speculation that a royal heir may already be on the way for Kate and Prince William, the new X Factor judge took to Twitter and slammed the tabloid media's persistent need to cry pregnancy at the smallest signs of a waistline. Or, in the duchess's case, her apparently rumor-fueling decision to drink water instead of wine at a royal dinner.

"So apparently Kate Middleton (William?) is pregnant because of THIS picture...Are you KIDDING ME?!!" Demi tweeted yesterday, linking to a cropped photo of the latest Star magazine cover, which helpfully drew an arrow on Kate's nonexistent midsection and tagged it, "Expanding Waistline."

It seems to be a skewed perspective by anyone's standards, and that includes Demi.

"And people wonder why girls/guys have body image issues," she wrote. "Whether she is or not, she still has a beautiful body. Shame on you Star magazine."

Kate and the palace haven't and no doubt won't comment on the speculation spawned by their Diamond Jubilee trip to the South Pacific (no doubt they're used to taking it all in stride), but the couple was back out today for another full day of royal duties in Malaysia, which saw Kate deliver her first speech abroad.

The couple will wrap up their trek early next week.
