Did Katie Couric just give a royal diss?

As soon as we thought the controversy over Kate Middleton's weight was over, the soon-to-be daytime talk-show host brought the Duchess of Cambridge's stature back into the limelight after making a comment on her small size.

During an interview with SheKnows.com, Couric was asked who her "dream guest" would be for her show Katie, and she replied, "I think it would be really interesting to interview Kate Middleton because I think she has comported herself so well since she has been thrust in the limelight."

Nice enough, right? But she didn't stop there.

Couric added, "Although, I think she needs to eat more because she's so thin."

Yeah, kinda out of nowhere with that one, but Middleton's svelte figure has been the topic of conversation ever since her wedding to Prince William

"I don't think we have a problem like Di did with weight," a royals insider told E! News last year. "I don't think William would put up with it, he's very attuned to things with Kate, unlike Charles was with Diana."

Couric's show will premiere this Monday and feature guest Jessica Simpson, who has also publicly dealt with weight issues. Other stars slated to appear on Katie include Jennifer LopezBarbra Streisand50 Shades of Grey author E.L. JamesHeidi Klum and Sofia Vergara.

As for Middleton being a guest—well, we won't hold our breath.
