We're happy to report that Mayim Bialik is doing just fine after a scary car accident last week that left her hand severely injured.

"My poor little hand is working in a very different way than it's used to," the Big Bang Theory star, who was sporting a cast on her right hand, told us at last night's Television Academy Performers Peer Group reception in L.A. "But it's doing OK."

Bialik recounted the accident in a humorous blog post yesterday, but says in reality the incident was very serious.

"It was terrifying," she said. "I was kind of nervous to write that post. I wanted to point out to people, not that I was making fun of it or making light of it, but when you've been through natural labor and you know what to do with pain and where to put it, it does leave room for a lot of other possibilities in trauma. And so it was kind of an amazing experience."

The 36-year-old says Big Bang Theory writers are not writing her injury into the show. "No, we're going to make it work," she said. "As long as I'm not dancing or walking. We're good. No handstands."

As for next month's Emmy Awards, Bialik, who's nominated in the Supporting Actress in a Comedy category, is working on matching her newly acquired hand gear to her red carpet dress.

"It will be on [for the Emmys], maybe in a modified form," she said. "Absolutely we have to get it in black. The dress, we already picked it, long sleeved."
