In the wake of her cheating scandal, Kristen Stewart will make her first public appearance by walking the red carpet for the premiere of her new film On the Road, which will help kick off the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival next month, E! News confirms.

But one person we don't expect to accompany her is ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson, who's been making the publicity rounds in support of his latest flick, Cosmopolis.

As Twi-hards and the rest of the world know by now, after going into hiding post-apology to her longtime beau, it wasn't until Monday that the 22-year-old actress finally stepped out, photographed on a Los Angeles street in rolled-up jeans and a white T-shirt.

On the Road, a film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic novel of the same name, will be screened as a TIFF "special presentation" on the festival's opening night, Sept. 6, at 9 p.m. at the Ryerson Theater. It will not, however, be shown in competition. The fact that Stewart has chosen this event for her first official outing means she definitely won't be attending the Sept. 6 MTV Video Music Awards to promote the upcoming final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, though still no word whether Pattinson will make an appearance.

Meanwhile, among some of the other interesting storylines set for this year's bash north of the border: Johnny Depp is expected to turn up for the premiere of West of Memphis, a documentary directed by Amy Berg and produced by Lord of the Rings collaborators Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh chronicling the infamous case of three teenagers, aka the West Memphis Three, who were wrongly imprisoned in Arkansas. That ought to generate a lot of chatter.

Speaking of potential controversy, There Will Be Blood helmer Paul Thomas Anderson is set to unveil his long-awaited follow-up, The Master, which stars Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Rumor has it the post-World War II drama, which tells of a naval officer drawn to a charismatic leader of a new church, riffs on L. Ron Hubbard's founding of Scientology. Anderson has so far been mum on the subject.

Another notable entry is Nick Cassavetes' Yellow, a stylish fantasy drama starring Sienna Miller, Ray Liotta, Melanie Griffith, Riley Keough, and Luke Wilson. It follows a young schoolteacher who becomes addicted to Vicodin and begins to have crazy hallucinations that take her on a head trip featuring circus freaks and farm animals.

Oscar winner Colin Firth will play opposite Emily Blunt in Arthur Newman, described as a quirky dark comedy about a failed golf pro who fakes his own death. Tommy Lee Jones will take on the role of Gen. Douglas MacArthur opposite Matthew Fox in Peter Webber's The Emperor about the U.S. occupation of Japan after WWII.

And in some of the last lineup additions before Toronto gets underway, festival organizers announced the Masters sidebar on Tuesday, which features some of the world's most renowned auteurs screening their latest works. Among the most notable, Bernardo Bertolucci will debut Me and You, the legendary Italian director's first film since 2003's The Dreamers; Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-Soo will present his In Another Country, Michael Winterbottom will showcase his latest, a made-for-TV flick called Everyday; and Portuguese filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, who is still going strong at the age of 103, will premiere his latest, Gebo and the Shadow.

The Toronto Film Festival runs Sept. 6-16.
