This actor is taking on the musical stage, but he's not alone.

Russell Crowe showed off his singing chops at Culture Night in Reykjavik while in Iceland filming scenes for Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film Noah, and the audience got a surprise appearance by singer Patti Smith.

The duo got together and performed "Because the Night," at two of Crowe's three gigs yesterday. Canadian actor and musician Alan Doyle also joined the pair on stage for the last two shows.

"Iceland you have been wonderful, thanks for everything, hope to see you again sometime," Crowe tweeted.
