Amanda Bynes Driving Drama: LAPD Says She Hit and Possibly Ran

Investigation determined the other car involved had $800 worth of damage and Bynes didn't follow proper accident protocol

Memo to Amanda Bynes: Buy a Smart car.

The LAPD's Valley Traffic Division has determined that the former What I Like About You star was involved in a possible hit-and-run accident on Aug. 4 and will be turning their investigation over to the L.A. County District Attorney's Office.

It will then be up to prosecutors to determine whether to press charges against Bynes, who is already facing a misdemeanor DUI charge from the L.A. City Attorney's Office stemming from her April 6 arrest after dinging a police car in West Hollywood.

Bynes did stop two weeks ago after her now-notorious BMW rear-ended another woman's Toyota on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley, Lt. Andrew Neiman told the Los Angeles Times. But, he said, Bynes failed to provide the woman with her insurance information as required by law and took off without calling police.

Bynes told authorities that she and the woman mutually agreed that the accident wasn't significant enough to report, Neiman said, but it was determined afterward, when the woman filed a police report anyway, that the other car sustained roughly $800 worth of damages.

She was also pulled over for denting and dashing in May, but Bynes told police when they pulled her over that she hadn't even realized she had touched another vehicle. Officers took a traffic collision report and Bynes was not cited for any infraction.

Since becoming the presumed bane of her insurance company's existence, Bynes has denied drinking and driving, saying she doesn't drink in the first place and the authorities got it wrong.

President Barack Obama has not yet responded to her request for help.
