Bobby Brown's latest command performance? Rehab.

Nearly four months after he cut a deal on a DUI rap, the singer has checked into treatment for addiction issues.

"Mr. Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour," attorney Christopher Brown told E! News.

"Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the state of California."

"Bobby's children and loved ones are very proud of him," his wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown said. "We appreciate his fan's prayers and well wishes. Bobby is mentally in a good place.

Brown is keeping the location of his treatment confidential, and said simply that the nature of his rehabilitation is "relating to alcohol use."

The singer is expected to continue with his New Edition and solo concert dates, including a planned Sept. 1 gig in Orlando.

As for the singer, Brown caught a lot of tabloid grief this year after the passing of ex-wife Whitney Houston, whose accidental drowning death was brought on by heart disease and cocaine use.

He denied being the one who got the pop icon hooked on drugs, telling Today back in May that being blamed for her death felt "terrible."

The reality show Being Bobby Brown allowed Brown and Houston to see "that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other," he said. Brown spent time in rehab back in 1998 after a DUI crash in Houston's car.

Brown said in that interview that he had been off drugs for seven years, but the sit-down came a week after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI following a March 26 arrest. The "My Prerogative" singer had been pulled over for talking on a cell phone and then failed a field sobriety test.
