The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises' Batman aren't the only superhero game in town.

Returning to his role as the X-Men's resident berserker, Hugh Jackman has gone deep undercover a layer of scruff while shooting The Wolverine.

No stranger to dressing down, the action star-musical powerhouse just recently finished roughing up his chiseled good looks for his role in the film adaptation, Les Misérables. (Nor is he the only hero hiding under whiskers, as we see in the new Superman trailers.)

While this solo venture has been long in the works, nerds fans will recall that the last time we got a glimpse of the hero, aka Logan, was in X-Men: First Class where he offers a terse three-word response (that begins with the word "Go" and ends with "yourself") to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender's attempt to recruit him into their new mutant group.

And while he avoided joining up then, there's rampant speculation that his character may play a role in that film's sequel, which is confirmed to be called X-Men: Days of Future Past and appears to be based on a 1980s-era Wolverine-centric storyline.

Judging from this pic, though, the reliably foul-tempered dude with the razor-sharp claws is still trying to keep a low profile.

Good luck with that, bub.

Superheroes can be fashionable, too
