What's better than winning an Olympic gold medal? How about accomplishing such an amazing feat along with your BFF?

Well, that's just what McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross did on Tuesday when the two members of the U.S. women's gymnastics squad joined their fellow teammates in beating Russia and Romania for the top honor.

To further celebrate such a momentous occasion, McKayla decided to post a couple of pics to her Facebook page of her and Kyla.

The first one shows the then-aspiring Olympians when they were just getting their start in the sport followed by another of them proudly posing with their medals.

"Once upon a time two little best friends from California were dreaming about the Olympics, to get to go there together," McKayla wrote. "They trained together, both make the Olympic team to represent U.S.A. in gymnastics in July 1, 2012... And the rest is history."

History indeed.
