Forget Olympic fever; some of the competitors at the London 2012 games are clearly in the throes of Bieber fever.

Fresh off of tweeting his support to Canadian gymnast Dominique Pegg, Justin Bieber has set his sights on Team USA, and the object of his congratulations this time around is none other than star swimmer and our nation's current golden girl (who no doubt right now is a particularly fetching shade of red) Missy Franklin.

The 17-year-old phenom took home her first individual medal (a gold) yesterday in the women's individual 100-meter backstroke. And while Twitter congratulations poured in, one tweet stood out above them all.

"Heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine. now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove," Bieber tweeted last night.

And while Missy may be a now two-time Olympic medalist (she also was part of the women's relay team that took home bronze over the weekend), let's not forget she's also a teenager. And an excitable one, at that.

"I just died!" she tweeted, after retweeting Justin's congratulatory missive. "Thank you!"

Still, Bieber wasn't the only star who offered up a public well-done. Yesterday, her fellow Team USA swimmers, including Michael Phelps, cheered her on, as did American Idol's Scott McCreery.

"I am so grateful for everything that has happened," Franklin wrote. "God has blessed me with so much. Thank you so much for all the love and support."
