In light of the recent Dark Knight Rises tragedy in Colorado, Warner Bros. announced that they would push back the original September release date for its upcoming film Gangster Squad, but we didn't know any other details.

Until now, that is.

A source tells E! News that the studio is looking at January as a possible release date, but it's not set in stone. The only definite right now is that the film will be released sometime during first quarter of 2013.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the move will accommodate necessary reshoots of a scene in the flick of a movie theater shooting that became problematic after the Aurora massacre.

Gangster Squad is based on Paul Liebermanon's book Tales from the Gangster Squad, which follows the police's deadly pursuit of real-life mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) in Los Angeles in the 1940s.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. studio confirm a January 11 release date for Gangster Squad
