For Patrick Stewart, here's something that is simply out of this world.

The actor, probably best known for portraying Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch in Croydon, South London, on Monday.

"I have attended world premieres of big movies that have not had the excitement and the sense of pleasure and pride that people are exhibiting today," Stewart told The Telegraph, adding that this would be a moment he would "never forget."

Today marked day No. 66 for the torch, which began its 70-day-long journey in May when David Beckham landed in the U.K. with it from Greece.

Come Friday, the torch will arrive at London's Olympic Stadium for the highly anticipated opening ceremony.
