How happy were you when you heard New Girl's Max Greenfield's name announced during the Emmy nominations yesterday? Because we were straight-up ecstatic for the star of one of our favorite shows. Of course, there was someone else who definitely felt like celebrating after getting news of the Emmy nods. Max himself...duh! When we stopped by to congratulate him, he was so happy that he basically threw his glass of champagne against the wall.
OK, we dropped the glass accidentally in an attempt to celebrate, but still....Opa!
But seriously, near-hospital moment when the glass hit the floor. "[The day started] off so great, and then we end up in the hospital," Max says. "You never would've thought. 'Oh, look, we got nominated,' and then we end up in the emergency room. Cheers to the nomination, cheers to breaking stuff. Who cares?"
Before we almost dropped glass on his foot, Max told us the moment he found out about his Emmy nod was pretty standard. "I got calls from the rest of amazing people I work with who were screaming at their top of their lungs saying, 'you got nominated!' and then I got scared," he laughs.
Speaking of the amazing people he works with, New Girl's leading lady Zooey Deschanel also got a nomination in the acting category, a fact Max could not be happier about. "She was very, very excited. I was so excited for her; she is so deserving of this," he gushes.
So how did Max celebrate his big TV moment? Probably hunched over his computer and/or fancy smartphone.
"I literally have over a thousand emails in my inbox that need to be returned. I'm sure all of my friends and certain family members are like, 'oh, look who got nominated for an Emmy and doesn't want to write me an email back!'" he tells us. "I need a good few hours to just sit and get on the phone."
