Steven Tyler will be missed.

The Aerosmith rocker announced earlier today that he's decided not to return to American Idol for a third season.

And now his Idol pals are weighing in on the big decision.

"I still can't believe I shared the same stage with Steven Tyler," host Ryan Seacrest said in a statement. "He is a brilliant artist and a true legend of rock-and-roll, and it was a blast to have him on Idol these last two seasons. As one of his legions of fans, I can't wait to see him on stage rockin' out with Aerosmith this summer."

Tyler said he's leaving the show in order to get back to making music with his legendary band.

Jennifer Lopez, who hinted just this morning that she'll probably also be leaving Idol, later said in an interview that "it's hard to hear" that Tyler is moving on.

"I can't even imagine anyone else there right now because I've just spent two years sitting next to him," she said. "I love Steven, and we became close during that time. We were a great support for each other, on an adventure that neither one of us knew what it was going to be."

Randy Jackson has stayed silent on the subject with his rep telling E! News that he couldn't be reached because he was working.

A tweet posted to the American Idol Twitter feed reads, "Dear Steven Tyler (@IamStevenT), Thanks for 2 fun-filled & pun-filled seasons on American Idol. We'll miss you!"
