OK, Kim, is Kanye West "the new fairytale?"

Oprah Winfrey asked Kim Kardashian that very question on OWN's Next Chapter (the second part of the interview airs this Sunday).

"Um," the E! reality star began, smiling.

"Blush, blush!" Oprah urged, eliciting giggles from Kim.

"I've known him—we met, maybe almost a decade ago," Kim, 31, said. "We've been friends for like six or seven years. So it's very comforting to have someone that knows everything about you, that respects you, understands [and] has gone through the similar things."

They also have a history of very real, personal heartbreak in their immediate families…

"I can really relate to his mother passing," Kim said. Kanye's beloved mother Donda died in 2007 from complications of plastic surgery, while Kim's father Robert lost his battle to esophageal cancer in 2003. "He can really relate to my father passing. I mean there's so many similarities in our life that I feel like I'm at a really happy, good space."

"I don't know why it took so long for us to kind of get together," she admitted. But don't think for a moment she regrets the oftentimes bumpy road that brought them there. "I think I needed to go through all my experiences and some that he's gone through."
