The Django Unchained trailer has been unleashed!
Quentin Tarantino's latest quick-witted and (judging by the blood spray) super-violent adventure features Jamie Foxx as the titular slave who teams up with Christoph Waltz's trigger-happy bounty hunter on a trek through the deep (and deeply racist) antebellum South.
If you've ever wanted to know what you get when you combine Homer's Odyssey, Cold Mountain and Shaft, well...
Here you go.
The mournful sounds of Johnny Cash set the scene for Foxx's miserable existence on a chain gang, but once Waltz shows up to buy (and then ultimately steal) him away, the music gets funky and Django gets himself a new haircut, new threads and a big ol' gun.
First up, Waltz's Dr. King Schultz needs help bringing down the scummy-sounding Brittle brothers, after which he promises to free Django and help him rescue his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), who's toiling away on a plantation owned by Leonardo DiCaprio's foppish yet sadistic Calvin Candie.
No matter that they don't initially know where Broomhilda is—they'll just visit every plantation until they find her.
Like all good fun-for-the-whole-family fare, Django Unchained hits theaters on Christmas Day!
And, FYI, if you sign up for Fandango FanAlerts you'll be the first to know when tickets are available for presale, and you could win passes to the film's world premiere. (E! Online and Fandango are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
