While no doubt painful, Katy Perry reveals why she decided to include her split from Russell Brand in her upcoming documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me.

"I thought it was important to show everything in between," the singer says during an appearance on Ellen  today. "I think sometimes people think that we're perfect, and we know we're not perfect, at all."

Perry adds, "I think it's important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dreams, you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. So that's why I decided to put everything into the film. In the most tasteful way."

It was just last week that Russell himself stopped by to talk to Ellen DeGeneres about his relationship with Perry, telling the talk show host, "I still love her as a human being."

Meanwhile, E! News confirmed on Monday that Perry was once again single after breaking up with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd.
