Robin Williams Is Dead (or Not)—What Does Goldie Hawn Have to Do With It?

Rumors ran rampant that the actor had fallen off a mountain in Austria

For funnyman Robin Williams, this was probably no laughing matter.

Then again, the Oscar winner may have just found the humor in being the latest victim of an Internet death hoax.

So, just how did the Mrs. Doubtfire star supposedly meet his maker?

Well, rumors began running rampant over the weekend that Williams had died after falling off a mountain in Austria.

According to RumorFix, such speculation picked up steam when Goldie Hawn made reference to it in a tweet that was actually meant to be a clarification and not a confirmation after a user had sent her a message claiming Williams had died.

"Correction! Robin Gibbs [sic] has sadly passed. RIP @jcm1009: @goldiehawn Actor Robin Williams Falls To his death," Hawn wrote referring to the late Bee Gees member who had been battling cancer.

Williams is just the latest celeb to have been killed off via the Internet, joining the likes of Goodwill Hunting costar Matt Damon, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Bieber, Eddie Murphy and Paul McCartney.
