Yes, director Ruben Fleischer has made a very L.A. Confidential-reminiscent movie—1950s Los Angeles, Tommy guns, fedoras, dirty cops, etc.

But at least The Gangster Squad stars Sean Penn as crime boss Mickey Cohen, Emma Stone as his girl and Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin as two of the detectives tasked with taking Cohen down!

"When we succeed, no one will ever know what we have done," Brolin's John O'Mara intones, a key indicator that he and the other fellas on Cohen's trail are about to get their hands dirty.

And who else is along for the violent, sexy ride?

In these tense two and a half minutes alone we spotted Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Peña, Robert Patrick and Anthony Mackie. (And we'll bet that, when we do see her, The Killing's Mireille Enos will steal scenes as Brolin's wife.)

Oh, and did we mention that Gosling's Sgt. Jerry Wooters has the hots for Cohen's girl?

As Jerry himself points out, "Well, you gotta die of somethin'."

The Gangster Squad quite literally blasts its way into theaters later this year.
